Local Care and Support Team Member

Location: Glasgow City
Vacancy Reference Number: 3506
Salary: £20,280 - £20,280 per annum (part time pro rata)
Closing Date: 16 Nov 2018, 12:00

Cornerstone is one of Scotland’s largest charities with over 35 years’ experience providing care and support for adults and children with various support needs throughout the country. We are leading the way to change the future of Health and Social Care by developing local self-organised teams; not only improving the quality of the support we deliver but benefiting colleagues with greater autonomy and more professional development opportunities. We want our colleagues to be truly valued for the highly-skilled, life-changing work that they do every day.

We are on the lookout for a female* Team Member to join our team in Glasgow supporting individuals with autism and other complex needs. We have both relief and part time positions available.

The people we support love getting out and about and so you will be creative and proactive in helping them access meaningful and interesting activities within their community. You will have experience in supporting individuals with autism, good written and verbal communication skills and a caring, patient and understanding nature. You will enjoy working within a team and be committed to developing relationships built on trust, respect and consideration. You will be enthusiastic and be able to overcome challenges with positivity.

If you’re successful in joining our team, we will need you to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays as part of your rota, as the support we provide is tailored to meet the needs of the individuals.

Working collaboratively within our team you will help us to:

- Enable the individuals we support to lead a valued life - the life they choose.
- Plan work schedules around the needs of the people we support.
- Overcome challenges and assist the people we support to achieve their goals.

You will ideally have an SVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent); however, this is not essential. As an organisation, we care more about you sharing and demonstrating our values. You will have the opportunity to access a wide range of courses and qualifications through our award-winning Training Academy, as well as a coaching team that will support you on your journey with us.

As a Team Member, you will be on our new pay grade of £10.00 per hour. You will also receive a fantastic benefits package, including generous annual leave, Group Personal Pension, Group Life Assurance and access to exclusive on-line shopping discounts and rewards via ‘Perks at Work’.

This is a new post in our pioneering model and is still subject to consultation.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an Information Evening on Wednesday 21 November, followed by an individual Cornerstone Chat on Wednesday 28 November.

Successful candidates will be required to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme and must be willing to work towards a SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare.

* For this position, being female is an Occupational Requirement as defined by the Equality Act 2010, to assist with personal care.

A career with Cornerstone is more than a job. Apply today and begin your journey with us.
