Support Worker

Location: Kingswells, Aberdeen
Vacancy Reference Number: 2904
Salary: £17,137 - £17,927 per annum (part time pro rata)
Closing Date: 30 Oct 2017, 23:59

Cornerstone is one of Scotland's largest charities with over 35 years experience providing care and support for adults and children with various support needs all over Scotland. Our purpose is to deliver high quality care and support that enables everyone to live a valued life - the life they choose.

We are looking for caring, compassionate, enthusiastic and motivated Support Workers to join our dynamic team at Huxterstone Drive on a permanent basis (20hr and 30hr contracts available).

Based in Aberdeen Kingswell, Huxterstone is a Care home supporting four ladies with learning disabilities. The ladies are at the center of all we do at Huxterstone and, to help achieve this, we have created a very warm, homely atmosphere. We share lots of fun and laughter with the ladies, their families and friends.

The ladies enjoy various activities in community like arts and crafts, dramas, bowling, visit local cafes, clubs, restaurants etc. We have a service car which transports the ladies to different activities so having a clean driving license is requirement for this post. Skills in arts and crafts, baking, gardening and music would be advantageous.

As a Support Worker, you will take a person-centered approach to support the ladies in their day-to-day life. Your day will involve providing assistance with personal care, emotional reassurance, assisting with medication, house keeping duties and helping ladies to access activities in the local community. This is a diverse, engaging role and every day comes with fresh challenges and opportunities. If you are caring, committed and have good listening skills and a good sense of humour, we want to hear from you!

The successful candidate will have effective communication skills, the ability to use their initiative and build effective working relationships with a ‘Can Do’ attitude. You will ideally have your SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) or a willingness to work towards this. You will be required to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme.

We'd love for you to see what working for Cornerstone could mean for you, and welcome you to have a look at our Careers video. This can be found by following this link

Successful candidates will be required to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme and the SSSC.

In April 2017, Cornerstone entered a transformational stage to begin our new Strategic Plan, Local Cornerstone. Over 3 years, we look to revolutionise social care delivery by introducing self-organised teams; not only improving the quality of the support we deliver but benefiting colleagues with greater autonomy and more professional development opportunities. We strive to change the way the health and social care sector is viewed in society and want our colleagues to be truly valued for the highly-skilled, life-changing work that they do every day.
