At Cornerstone, we all work together to make a positive difference to people's lives. We are one of Scotland's largest charities with over 35 years' experience providing care and support for adults and children with various support needs throughout the country. We are incredibly proud to have an amazing team of dedicated people who share our Values and continually strive to enable the people we support to live happy, independent lives.

My name is Fred. I am a young man with autism and learning disabilities. I value my independence and live in my own house with staff supporting me through the day. I enjoy living in my own home, but need support and encouragement to help me with household chores. I like and need consistency and routine, which my staff team supports me with.

Sometimes, I may not be able to communicate and I’m not clearly understood, which causes me to become frustrated. When I am frustrated, I may present physical challenges. I need my staff team to remain patient and calm when I feel like this. There are protocols in place to help staff manage this which keep us both safe, and I hope that staff never take my behaviours personally as this is just a part of who I am. Communicating with me is everything as this reduces my frustration. It is important that staff use social stories, which I can read and which help me to process information. Understanding the world around me can be overwhelming and my sense can be heightened. I am particularly sensitive to noise so I wear headphones to block out everyday noises that may irritate me when I am in the community.

I am looking for consistent, patient and positive people to join my team as Support Workers; to support me to achieve my goals, to encourage and support me to maintain my independence and to have an enjoyable, valued life. There is a part time (30hrs) position and relief roles available.

At Cornerstone, we provide flexible, customer-led services that run twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, so you should be prepared to work evenings, weekends and public holidays on a rota basis. A driving license is essential for this post.

West Dunbartonshire are holding a recruitment fair on 24th October, 10-3pm drop in at the Carman Centre, Main Street, Renton.

A career with Cornerstone is more than a job. Apply today and begin your journey with us.

In April 2017, Cornerstone entered a transformational stage as we begin our new Strategic Plan, Local Cornerstone. Over 3 years, we look to revolutionise social care delivery by introducing self-organised teams; not only improving the quality of the support we deliver but benefiting colleagues with greater autonomy and more professional development opportunities. We strive to change the way the health and social care sector is viewed within society and want our colleagues to be truly valued for the highly-skilled, life-changing work that they do every day.
