Support Worker

Location: Aberdeen City
Vacancy Reference Number: 2866
Salary: £17,136 - £17,927 per annum (part time pro rata)
Closing Date: 12 Oct 2017, 23:59

Cornerstone is one of Scotland's largest charities with over 30 years’ experience providing care and support for adults and children with various support needs all over Scotland. Our aim is to make a real difference to the people we support by enabling them to enjoy a valued life.

As our services continue to grow across the city, we have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic, positive and motivated Support Workers to join our team with various full-time, part-time and relief contracts available.

As a Support Worker you will deliver high quality person-centred support, empowering the people we support to make choices, live independently and achieve their goals. You will liaise and work in close partnership with families and the multi-disciplinary team. You will also be responsible for reviewing and maintaining Personal Support Plans, including undertaking risk assessments as appropriate.

The successful candidate will have effective communication skills, the ability to use their initiative and build effective working relationships with a ‘Can Do’ attitude. You will ideally have your SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) or a willingness to work towards this.

Some of our services can be quite physically demanding and will require you to use hoists and maneuvered wheelchairs; full training for moving and handling is provided.

By joining us, you will have a rewarding career in social care, gaining a wealth of experience and access to a vast range of learning and development opportunities. You will be challenged, engaged and supported to reach your maximum potential and help us achieve our goal of becoming the first choice for care and support in Scotland.

Successful candidates will be required to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme and register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

Interview and meet and greet session will be held on Monday 30th October 2017.

In April 2017, Cornerstone entered a transformational stage as we began our new Strategic Plan, Local Cornerstone. Over the next 3 years, we look to revolutionise social care delivery by introducing self-organised teams; not only improving the quality of the support we deliver but also benefiting colleagues with greater autonomy and more professional development opportunities. We strive to change the way the health and social care sector is viewed in society and want our colleagues to be truly valued for the highly-skilled, life-changing work that they do every day.
