Cornerstone is one of Scotland's largest charities with over 35 years experience providing care and support for adults and children with various support needs all over Scotland. Our aim is to make a real difference to the people we support by enabling them to enjoy a valued life.

We're now on the lookout for caring, compassionate, enthusiastic and motivated Support Workers to join our team on a part-time, permanent basis.

Based in Lossiemouth, Parkholme is a purpose built care home for six adults with learning & physical disabilities. The residents are at the centre of all we do in Parkholme and, to help achieve this, we have created a warm, homely atmosphere. We share lots of fun and laughter with the residents, their families and friends.

Our residents enjoying going to the local cafes, restaurants, swimming pools, ten pin bowling, etc. We have a small minibus which transports people in wheelchairs so having a clean driving license would be advantageous. If you have skills in gardening, music or arts & crafts, this would go down a treat.

The people we support have profound learning and physical disabilities so, as a key worker, you will champion ‘personalisation’. You should have the skills – or be willing to develop the skills - to communicate with families, guardians and other professionals on behalf of the person you key work. You will receive peer support to encourage this. You will have the ability to empower the people we support and encourage independence at all times, have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to work sensitively and maintain the confidentiality of the people we support at all times.

To work in Parkholme, you need to be physically fit as we are involved in a lot of moving and positioning.

The successful candidate will have effective communication skills, the ability to use their initiative and build effective working relationships with a ‘Can Do’ attitude. You will ideally have your SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) or a willingness to work towards this. You will be required to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme.

Interviews will be held on the 20th October 2017.

Sound interesting? Then we would love to hear from you.

In April 2017, Cornerstone entered a transformational stage as we began our new Strategic Plan, Local Cornerstone. Over 3 years, we look to revolutionise social care delivery by introducing self-organised teams; not only improving the quality of the support we deliver but benefiting colleagues with greater autonomy and more professional development opportunities. We strive to change the way the health and social care sector is viewed in society and want our colleagues to be truly valued for the highly-skilled, life-changing work that they do every day.
